Julie with the world famous Wolfe Brothers at a training day.
Face painting has always been an interest from when my son started having his face painted some years ago I found it fascinating and never dreamed I would ever be able to do it myself.
I decided to take the interest a little further myself and enrolled to take a face painting course in 2009 with Follies. This was followed by an improver's course later that year to learn even more. In 2010 I also took a special effects and casualty simulation course and a tattoo course covering ink, glitter, henna and temporary tattoo's, which now enables us to offer more products to suit all age groups, All of these products can be mixed to create your perfect party along with balloon modelling which was added in 2011 and more recently in 2014, hair braiding. Andy decided to join me in my painting in 2011 and he too took a course to improve on the basics he knew and now continues to grow his painting skills and work. We have both attended various skills days as well.
I was very lucky to be able to attended a course with Nick and Brian Wolfe in 2011 world famous face painters from Orlando Florida who were in the UK offering training. To be able to spend a day with these guys was a great opportunity and the extra skills learned are now being put into practice, to further our designs and creations more.
I was also able to spend a day with Heather Green another amazing painter from Florida when she was visiting the UK too.
In November 2012 we both attended a further course with Nick Wolfe.
In 2012 we both attended the UK face and body painting convention in Dudly Birmingham, where we had the opportunity to attend workshops and demonstrations from some of the worlds top face painting artists. We also attended for 3 days in 2014 and met some amazing painters and attended workshops whilst there too with UK and overseas artists. We cant wait for the 2016 Convention and plan to be back there for a 3rd time.
In 2013 we managed to attend the Paintopia Face and Body art event in Norfolk again being able to experience learning new skills from top artists. The 2014 Paintopia was even more amazing and we are adding this as a yearly must go to event.
Also in 2013 I managed to fit in a Botanical's training course with the wonderful Jennifer Parker one of the UK's best painters.
In 2014 I tried to concentrate on the balloon modelling side of training. I attended a days balloon modelling workshop in Cambridge with Dan Catt at the beginning of the year.
I joined the Balloon Artist's Guild and I have attended most of their two day events with them to improve and increase balloon modelling skills and designs. I rejoined the association again in 2016 and will continue to keep membership going.
In October 2014 we were lucky enough to make it to the 3 day UK face and body painting convention in Birmingham again , a Jam packed 3 days of learning with top instructors from around the world.
Just before Halloween 2014 I spent a day at The Professional Make up academy in Surrey learning more Special effects with Angela Young's and also learned a new skill in 2014 being Hair wrapping and Braiding' which will be launched fully at 2015 events and festivals
2015 saw a visit to the Fab Mega Jam, FACE Conference and Paintopis all of which will enhance our training and experience which all benefits outr clients and the quality services we provide. At the FACE convention I came third in the live face painting competition and came home with a lovely trophy too.
I have also been really lucky to spend a day with Matteo Affanstti one of the world's top painters in September which was a great experience.
In 2016 I attended Face conference and was awarded best newcomer, which was a shock and another trophy. At Paintopia I dabbled in 2 body paints this year and had 3 days at UK face and body convention as well as a few more ballooning workshops.
2017 looks to be as busy as ever with more training days with The Balloon Artists Guild and the annual FACE conference. I amazingly won the live competition at this years FACE convention as well as 2nd in the one stroke competition.
